Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computerized test taking program
for reading. After students read an AR book, they take a test on a computer. The number of points they earn is based on the
reading level of the book, the number of pages in the book, and the number of answers they get correct.
I place the students into teams in the first weeks of
school. Each week teams will read against each other. The top team at the end of the year will earn a pizza party. I will
also give small prizes throughout the year. For starters, through September and October, students will receive a book mark
for the first book they read. |

Accelerated Reader is also a 40 point assignment
in 7th and 8th grade English each quarter. The following is the conversion for AR points to grades. The first number
is the number of AR points earned in the quarter; the second number is the amount of points that will go in the grade
book. The highest possible score is 40/40. (Every .2 AR points is worth 1 point on the grade. Example: 7.2=36.)
8.0=40
7.0=35 6.0=30 5.0=25 4.0=20 3.0=15 2.0=10 1.0=05
